At school we have been reading novels and mine was Bow Down Shadrach.

It is about Hannah, Mikey, Sky and Shadrach who is a horse. Shadrach gets sent to a dog meat factory and Hannah wants to save him and they set out on a huge adventiure involving pushing the revolting “wuff stuff” man into the mucky pool of grunge and setting all the horses free and escaping from almost getting captured but getting onto a mussle barge and chugging all the way to the other coast. There is sad and dramatic things like Shadrach dieing in the end but there is some funny things as well.

I would recommend this book if you like adventure and storys with a sad ending, this is the book for you.

What event do you remember the most? I remember the museum trip.

Why do you think you remember it so clearly? It was pretty recent and it was fun and interesting because I learnt a lot!

What event did you enjoy the most? I really like family fun day because It had a lot of bouncy castles, activities and food!

What did you enjoy about it? It was super fun (hence the name) and I never got bored becuase there were so many things to do.

What subject have you improved in the most? I think I have improved the most in writing because I went from not writing that good to writing 2 pages full on a story.

What subject have you enjoyed the most? I enyoy writing because I am good at it and its fun for me.

What new friendships have you made? I haven’t really made any new friends.

What responsibilities or opportunities have you completed? I guess I have signed myself up for a rainy day moniter but im a year 4 so I can’t do it now.

What did you think about that responsibility or opportunity? I think it might be fun.

What would you like to share about your 2022? I think it was a good year.

                 

Hi everybody,

We are learning about Parihaka so we made white feather plumes. This is what happened in that area: one person called Te Whiti o Rongomai  made a village called Parihaka and he made a rule to never be violent. Then one day the government wanted the land and they didn’t fight back so Te Whiti went to jail but the tribe didn’t fight back. When the government came back they had marked their land so the government couldn’t take it. The government brought cannons but there were children not defences which demonstrated non-violence.

We made headbands with patterns and white feathers on the top and they meant peace. We made cool patterns that stand out.

Kia ora bloggers, the rugby cup is happening (lets go black ferns!) It is going on thru, October till November so hopefully we win. One of the most suprising things is that sylvia brunt (one of waikowhai students) also is in the black ferns so thats cool. here is a video of the black ferns (warning: very insperational!!!)

Sylvia is one of the youngest rugby players in the world! Rugby is a very fun sport that you usually play in winter. We play rugby because it helps us get fit. It the world cup happens every 4 years but normal games happen normally. There are a lot of rules in rugby but once you get the hang of it its kind of easy. Every time there is a big game its normally in a big stadium.   This is a photo of the scores that all the teams got.

Hello, I’m Stellan from Manukau.

Hi, so we normally get a sport instuctor to teach us a sport, last term we got a netball coach, this term we have a teamwork coach. Its been a week now doing Greg’s sessions.

We were lining up to go to Greg’s sessions we were all exited for learning about teamwork. We saw there were red, orange, yellow and green vests. Greg sorted us into groups I was in yellow. We were told there was going to be two games, the first called endzone and the second called corner ball.  In endzone two teams group up and have to stop the other team from getting to your home base. The other team’s goal is the same just they have to get to your base. There’s a middle line on either side of it is where each base is. If you go to the other team’s side they can tag you. The goal is to reach the home base of the other team. If your whole team gets to the other side then your team wins! The two teams grouped up were orange and red and yellow with green. There was teamwork happening every where!

The second game was cornerball, the way to play this was you had four teams in corners ( thats why its called cornerball if you couldn’t tell) and one ball for all teams so one member had the ball. When you have the ball you can’t move, your teamates can though. The goal is to tag the other team’s members with the ball. Now you might be thinking “how is that possible?” well your teamates run to another team’s member and then the person with the ball on your team will throw it to you and you can quickly tag them but they can get back in the game if one of there team members thow the ball to them and they can get back up.
